Why compare apps by real pay
One app may show higher earnings per hour, but if it sends you on longer drives, it can pay less once gas and wear are counted. Grocery apps like Instacart often have bigger payouts but take longer per order. Food apps are faster but may involve more miles. The only fair comparison is pay per hour after car costs.
How to get good numbers
- Use a similar time of day for each app, like a weekday dinner shift.
- Better yet, add up a full week on each app.
- Include all the miles, not just the ones the app counts.
- Count all the time you were logged in, including waiting.
Running more than one app
Many drivers run two apps at once to cut waiting time, then pause one when they accept an order on the other. If you do this, it can be hard to split the hours. One simple approach is to track total pay, hours and miles for the "multi-apping" shift and compare it as its own row.
